Linartas Urniežis is a videographer, animation artist, and producer with over a decade of experience in video art, motion graphics, and 3D animation. He studied art and design at the Eduardas Balsys Art Gymnasium in Klaipėda and later earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Vilnius Academy of Arts. He is the founder of the visual production studio Video Architects.
Urniežis creates and produces original video projections for major Lithuanian theaters, including the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre (Creative Impulse), Vilnius City Opera (The Queen of Spades, Samson and Delilah, Salome, Macbeth), and the Klaipėda State Musical Theatre (Attention! Ballet, Journey to Tilsit, Rusalka), among others.
His work has also been featured at major cultural events such as the 800th anniversary of the Samogitia region (I Am That – Samogitia, 2019, LNOBT) and the Ten Walls Symphony with Marijus Adomaitis and the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra at Trakai Castle (2019), where he designed both video projections and stage scenography.
Beyond the stage, Urniežis is well known for his 3D video mapping projects in public spaces, including The Christmas Story on the façade of the Vilnius Cathedral, New Year’s Eve 360° projections on the Bell Tower, and thematic light shows on the Neris River fountain during Capital Days.
Internationally, together with his team, he has created large-scale 3D projection projects for events such as the Hans Christian Andersen Festival in Odense, Denmark (2012–2017), where they won several awards, and for Denmark’s Independence Day celebrations in Haderslev (2015–2018). He also presented original video installations at the Vilnius Light Festival (We, 2020; Tokyo, 2021) and represented Lithuania at Expo 2020 Dubai, creating video content for the live electronic opera Carmen.
In collaboration with the creative group Maxin10sity, Urniežis has worked on large-scale projection projects in the United States, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and other countries. His video animation for Philip Glass’s opera Voyage (2024) earned him the Theatre Gratitude Mask Award for outstanding artistic contribution.
